Here is the Creativity Kit, Buildable Toy Hanseatic Cog! The Hanseatic Cogg fits perfectly with our Medieval City series. The set includes characters in historical costumes, you can add residents from other sets of the “Medieval City” series.
The Kogg is a sturdy and reliable ship, but quite clumsy. The Kogg is considered to be the first ship to use not a steering paddle for steering, but a special rudder suspended astern. It turns like a wing from a large gate, on special metal hinges. Kogg goes well with a tailwind. Therefore, for a long voyage, you need to wait for a good wind and, most importantly, in the right direction. The Kogg was a convenient ship for trading because he could carry a lot of cargo. The medieval Hansa trade union, known throughout Europe, also used such ships.
Kogg was also good at sea combat. On the bow and stern there are raised combat platforms. The upper part of the side is carved with teeth, like on a fortress wall. You can even shoot arrows from the mast, where a special place is arranged for observation. Finally, merchants have the opportunity to protect cargo from pirates and deliver the goods intact to the point of sale.
The combination of materials of different nature in the ship model not only enriches the impression of the model, but also makes the assembly more difficult. When switching to a new material, you need to adapt to its properties, change methods of work. This variety makes the assembly even more interesting.
Assembly Description
Assembling the Hanseatic Cog of medium difficulty. When connecting the sail with the yard, you should carefully and without missing a single hole gradually attach the upper edge of the sail with a thread. An important element is a movable steering wheel. When properly assembled, it can be turned by a long tiller, as the nautical name of the handle for turning the rudder.
Work with details is detailed in the instructions, which show the entire assembly process in pictures. The main material of the model is a durable “binding”
